Condition

This exceptionally white stone has almost no flaws. Apart from a tiny nick and two minor dents, probably originals, to the edge of the foot, the ewer and cover are in very good condition. The actual colour is more white compared to the catalogue illustration.

This teapot is notable for the purity of the white stone and unusual design of Buddhist lions carved in high relief. While no other example appears to have been decorated with this motif, it is characteristically Qing in its auspicious motifs, such as the ruyi handle and playful Buddhist lions, and fine craftsmanship.
