the smoothly polished stone carved in the form of a qin, a chess board, two rolled manuscripts and a painted scroll symbolizing the 'Four Scholarly Pursuits' (siyi), with a branch of pine issuing from the wrapped qin and the scrolls incised with plum and bamboo to further evoke the 'Three Friends of Winter', the white translucent jade picked out with faint russet inclusions and icy streaks

The carving is overall in very good condition.
