Condition
This exceptionally richly and vividly splashed flowerpot is in good overall condition with the exception of light areas of re-touching to three hairline cracks: one extending from just above the foot on the exterior up across one lobe, over the rim and back down the interior to one of the pierced holes in the base, end at another hole; one extending again from just above the foot on the exterior in a more or less vertical line over the rim and 11cm. down the interior; the third extending from the rim circa 8cm. down the exterior and 14cm. vertically down the interior; restoration to three shallow flakes on the exterior of the foot (5 x 1.5cm; 2 x 2cm; and 4 x 2cm.); and light glaze scratches around the body, in particular below the rim on the interior.

此盆造型典麗，釉色絢爛，屬鈞窰花盆佳作。鈞窰器形簡約，上厚施色釉，其明晦深淺變化，隱顯之間，讓人愛不釋手。此類花盆之燒造，須先以模製瓷胎，再罩施藍紫色調之釉，盆底有刻數字「一」至「十」者，應為成套器物中各品之編號。此類花盆，昔時已為之珍貴，至清代宮廷仍有例可見。參見北京故宮博物院藏《胤禛妃行樂圖》十二屏之一，展於《盛世華章》，英國皇家藝術學院，倫敦，2005年，編號173。此套圖屏製於康熙年間，當時胤禛仍為皇子。圖中可見一相似玫瑰紫釉花盆，置於妃嬪窗台之上。
一相類花盆，底亦刻「三」字，圖錄於《故宮藏瓷大系．鈞窰之部》，台北，1999年，圖版22，同書另有兩例，釉色不同，一底刻「五」字，圖版23，另一為「七」字，圖版24。比較北京故宮博物院藏兩例，器形與此同，載於《故宮博物院藏文物珍品全集．兩宋瓷器（上）》，香港，1996年，圖版15、16；紐約大都會藝術博物館藏有一例，錄於《Oriental Ceramics: The World’s Great Collections》，東京、紐約、三藩市，1980-82年，卷11，圖版 67；另有一例，刊於 R.L. Hobson，《The George Eumorfopoulos Collection Catalogue of Chines, Corean and Persian Pottery and Porcelain》，卷3，倫敦，1926年，圖版III，編號C16，曾售於倫敦蘇富比1940年5月29日，編號179，現藏倫敦維多利亞與艾伯特博物館。還有兩例，底亦刻「三」字，罩紫釉，色調濃淡有致，原 J. Piermont Morgan 珍藏，曾為賓夕凡尼亞大學博物館藏品，售於香港蘇富比1975年3月25日，編號224及225，現藏於東京出光美術館。
此類鈞窰花盆之斷代，尚無定論。史上有兩學說，一指其為北宋十二世紀，另一認為屬元或明初。曾經有一批鈞窰帶編號花器殘片，與北宋「宣和元寶」錢模伴隨出土，且有指其陶土成份相同，支持北宋之說。然近在深圳研討會上，錢模之斷代受質疑。對照年代較明確之品，如龍泉及景德鎮窰之青瓷或青花盆、瓶或花器，現普遍接受將此類鈞器斷代明初。承清宮舊藏，兩岸故宮存不少刻有數字之鈞瓷，且常附鐫宮中殿堂名稱，相信乃明朝宮廷御用花器。
