The canvas has been relined. There is some scattered frame rubbing along the extreme edges and some faint lines of craquelure. The varnish fluoresces quite opaquely under ultraviolet light, obscuring a clear reading of the surface; the only clear retouching visible under U.V. light is a stroke in a figure to the left of the composition, and in the centre of the extreme edge. The overall appearance of the painting is good.
Held in a decorative gilt coved & fluted frame.
The catalogue illustration is a good representation of the work overall, although some of the colours are richer in reality, especially in the sky.
