The canvas has not been lined. Ultraviolet light reveals notably spots and thin strokes of retouching in the sky, predominantly in the upper quarter, a circa 2 by 2cm restoration below and to the right of the central mosque, a small restoration in the lower right quadrant, and a thin vertical restoration in the lower centre. The overall appearance of the work to the naked eye is good and it is ready to hang.
Held in a decorative gilt frame.
The catalogue illustration is quite a good representation of the painting, although the sky is slightly less pink and the yellow-greens are less saturated in reality.
