Condition

The sheet has not been laid down and is hinged to the backboard in the upper left and right corners. Apart from some discolouration to the sheet consistent with age (as visible in the catalogue illustration, and with the exception of a circa 1.5cm border along the upper and left extreme edges which have presumably not been exposed to light), this work is in good condition. The catalogue illustration is overall an accurate representation, although the colours are somewhat brighter overall in reality, giving the scene more of the feeling of a sunny day. This lot will be sold unframed. During the pre-sale viewing it will be exhibited in a decorative gilt loaner frame, under glass.
