Condition

The canvas has been relined. There is some abrasion in the lower right corner of the composition. Ultraviolet light reveals some strokes of retouching, notably between the tree and the upper edge in the centre, near the left framing edge in the upper third, and some spots in the sky and in the distance in the centre of the composition. This painting is overall in good condition. Held in a decorative gilt frame. The colours in reality are much cooler than in the catalogue illustration, and less red-orange overall.
