Condition
Original canvas.
There is minor surface dirt, with craquelure visible to the white tips of all three gulls, and a further corresponding fleck of possible loss to the tip of the tail of the far right gull, only visible upon close inspection. There is a tiny spot of loss to the extreme edge just below the signature. This excepting the work appears in good overall condition.
Ultraviolet light reveals areas of fluorescence and probable retouchings to the tail of the centre gull, as well as further isolated spots to the sky and to the left bird, as well as further isolated spots elsewhere.
Housed in a thick pine varnished frame.
