樫木知子經常描繪抽離個性特徵的女性肖像,在虛無飄渺的背景襯托下,她們時而懸浮在半空,時而徐徐融入其中。樫木知子憑藉其超現實畫風,成功在日本新一代藝術家之中脫穎而出,在當地及國際藝壇深受藝評人及學者注目。這位年輕畫家一九八二年出生於京都,分別在二〇〇六年及二〇〇八年獲京都市立藝術大學頒授美術學士和美術碩士學位,及後隨即參與多個日本及海外個展及聯展。當中最為人熟悉的,就是由大衛·艾略特策展、紐約日本協會舉行的《再見凱蒂:當代日本藝術的天堂與地獄之間》(BYE BYE KITTY!!! Between Heaven and Hell in Contemporary Japanese Art)。繪於二〇一〇年的作品《別沾濕裙邊》不但展示了畫家在處理「水」這個普及題材時的獨特表現形式,也顯露出她在揉合傳統東方美學與西方情感方面的出色技巧。

樫木知子的一系列畫作,均圍繞著「夢境」和「慾望」這兩個核心主題,她將自己的作品形容為「(其)內心世界的呈現」 。與此同時,她在刻畫女性形象時的細膩線條和優秀畫工,更散發出一派優雅氣質,反映出其訓練有素的傳統日本畫技巧,並在此項拍賣品中表露無遺。一位身穿紫紅色裙子、體態纖長的女人,在畫布中央的水間站著。線條細緻的雙臂,還有裙上的皺褶,完全流露出藝術家在處理塑膠彩、粉彩和木顏色等不同繪畫媒介的高超技巧。看似空洞平板的背景,其實隱藏著多項透視元素,例如是牆飾的影子和畫面右上角的樓梯細節,由此可見樫木知子在處理畫面結構方面已達爐火純青境界。她的作品經常出現「水」這個題材,今次更透過線條流暢的腿部倒影,還有互相交織的漣漪描繪出來。再仔細分析的話,樫木知子在這幅作品中所呈現的靈巧柔美,以及恍如行雲流水的筆觸,正是她在日本藝壇受歡迎程度與日俱增的原因。
