Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate although the lighter blue is slightly warmer in the original.
Condition: This work is in very good condition. Very close inspection reveals a faint handling mark towards the centre of the left edge of the dark-blue lacquered outer frame and some light rub marks to the upper right corner as faintly visible in the catalogue illustration. There are a number of extremely fine raised horizontal lines running intermittently throughout the blue lacquered outer frame which are inherent to the artist's choice of media. There is a short vertical hairline crack in the lacquer to the overturn right edge towards the top. Very close inspection reveals a minute spot of lacquer loss to the centre of the extreme top edge, another to the top right corner, two further minute spots of lacquer loss towards the centre of the extreme lower edge and a small chip in the lacquer to the back top left corner. No restoration is apparent under ultraviolet light.
