Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is slightly brighter in the original. Condition: This work is in very good condition. There is extremely light and intermittent wear to all four corners of both panels and in places along the extreme edges. Very close inspection reveals a small number of light creases to the paper that are in keeping with the artist’s working process. There is a very short light rub mark to the first panel in the upper left quadrant and two further rubs below this.

“ Boetti gives us a keen awareness of aesthetic perception as a central aspect of considering these works. The white writing seems to float in front of the hatched background of the drawing, as if it were articulating language in the form of writing in an imaginary space.” (Rolf Lauter in Exhibition Catalogue, Frankfurt Am Main, Museum für Moderne Kunst, Alighiero Boetti: Mettere al Mondo il Mondo, 1998, p. 49)
