Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the red and blue hues are brighter and more vibrant in the original, and the white is softer. Condition: This work is in very good condition. There are spots of light wear with associated paint loss in places along the top extreme edge. very close inspection reveals two minute fly spots towards of the centre of the right edge. There are a small number of slight handling marks visible in a few places in the black pigment. Upon close inspection, there are a few rub marks in the red pigment towards the top left corner, and a few minor burnishings in a few places elsewhere. Examination under ultra-violet light reveals a few spots of retouching to the white pigment towards the centre of the right edge. There is a small spot of retouching below the bright blue strip at the top centre of the composition, likely to be original to the artist's working process. There are other areas visible under ultra-violet light that fluoresce less strongly, which show the reworkings of the artist.
