the first a pear-shaped vase, painted with a scene of Wang Xizhi being offered a duck by an young acolyte; the second a cylindrical brushpot, slightly waisted, painted with chrysanthemum and peony emerging from rockwork and with a two-line poetic inscription and signed hallmark, tian shui tang zhi (2)

Condition

Brushpot - the edge of the base has been polished to remove frits and a shallow chip. There is also a polished area on the upper rim. There is a small glaze chip and minor frits to the inner rim. There is a firing crack in the base running between the characters of the mark. The word CHINA has been later etched into the base. Vase - the rim has been polished to remove frits. There is some kiln grit adhering under the base.
