supported on a flaring foot, the rounded lower body rising to a canted shoulder below the trumpet neck and galleried rim, the body carved with a meandering leafy scroll bearing peony blossoms between lappet borders, with an angular scroll encircling the shoulder, below upright leaves, two bowstring bands and chrysanthemum petal lappets on the neck, flanked by openwork scrolling leaf handles, covered with a pale sea-green glaze that pooled in the recesses to add definition to the design

Condition

The vase is of a greener color than in the catalogue illustration. One handle has a minor hair crack where it joins the body and another fine hair crack to the foliate section directly above. There are some burst air bubbles to the glaze on the interior of the mouth and scattered iron spots on the body.
