清乾隆 戧金填漆八吉祥「連福」圖菊式蓋盒

of lobed form supported on a foot of conforming section, the raised top incised and gilded on the red lacquer ground and further accented in black enamel with a large rosace formed of feathery scrolls interlinked by sprays of lotus, each petal enclosing one of the bajixiang and a bat, all centred with a rosette medallion bordered by ruyi and contained within a border of key-fret, the sides incised with bats and lotus framed by angular archaistic phoenix, all above a band of interlaced feathery leaves and ruyi heads encircling the raised rims, the box similarly decorated on each lobe with panels formed of angular foliate scrolls enclosing a lotus blossom and a bat, the foot picked out with lingzhi scrolls interlocking with rings, the interior and base lacquered in black

There are several secured cracks issuing from the cover rim with associated crackles to the black lacquer on the interior of the cover. There are also some secured crack issuing from the rim of the box and relacquering to the inner rim, as well as occasional touch up in areas to the lacquer. The gilding that was originally within the incisions is mostly rubbed on the cover but still well visible on the box.

此蓋盒富麗輝煌，以戧金填漆技法作紋飾。戧金，嵌薄金箔於漆地細刻圖紋。雖未明戧金首作於何時，東吳朱然墓遺址（239）出土一件漆盒，蓋面作此技法，證實三世紀已有戧金。洪武永樂朝之後，近乎全數戧金漆作，如現例所示，均搭配填漆技法，於漆面刻鏤紋飾輪廓，並填入彩漆。

可參考一件類同紋飾華麗之圓形蓋盒，展出於《中國漆藝兩千年》，香港中文大學文物館，香港，1993年，編號87。另一例刊錄於《中國漆器全集》，卷6，福州，1993年，圖版127。且參考專場中另一與此器形相近之蓋盒（編號169）。
