Condition

The sheet has been laid down on a backing board. There is a hard vertical crease running down the center, and some soft creases throught. The sheet appears slighly time-stained and soiled particularly around the edges. There are some pinpoint fox marks throught. The surface is in generally good condition aside from some writing in ink on the lower right edge. Framed under Plexiglas.

Braun & Hogenberg's Civitates Orbis Terrarum was the first comprehensive set of topographical views to show in detail the buildings, layout, and local people of the cities and towns of the world.

Braun and Hogenberg based "Jerosolyma" on a view of the city as it was in ancient times, by famous cartographer Sebastian Munster.
