This case was made by Schor for the artist Mane-Katz, who befriended and encouraged him in Paris.  The artist is represented in the central panel of the cover.

The cover carries eleven openwork, embossed and engraved panels depicting a scribe, violinist, cellist, father spanking a child, gardner, a child presenting flowers to the artist, a wood chopper, a bagpipe player, a flutist, a percussionist, and a shoemaker.  The Hebrew inscription on the cover reads: "The heavens are the heavens of the Lord: But the earth, He gave to mankind (Psalms 115:16)."  The back has three embossed and chased scenes: the top with a man installing a mezuzah, men carrying wheat and a cockerel, and a woman and child in Kaparot ritual.  The center figures represent Havdalah, praying, blowing shofar and Succot; the base figures represent Kiddush and the carrying of the Torah.  The base is further inscribed: "Cast me not away from Your presence: take not Your holy spirit from me (Psalms 51:13)."
