Condition

The work is in good condition overall, as is the canvas which is clear and taut. Indication of minor wear and handling around the edges of the painting, but paint layers are well preserved. Under ultraviolet light inspection reveals no evidence of restoration. Framed.

艾珠·克裡斯汀因對作品構圖及線條反覆的深究和探索,在一眾當代印尼藝術家中鶴立雞群。她筆下的線條、形狀、空間層次和色調都溢滿扣人心弦的魔力,成就她當代印尼最傑出女性藝術家之一的美譽。

克裡斯汀的畫作特色源自她的構圖佈局,顏色與線條前後交疊,界線若有似無,深淺互見。此作畫手法是畫家學生時期在赫赫有名的藝術家赫斯特·杰森薰陶下,醖釀出獨有演繹的典型圖形藝術風格,而此風格亦將在克裡斯汀往後的藝術生涯裡如影相隨。杰森的作品主題大都離不開自己的生活點滴和各種情緒起伏。從杰森的畫作,我們能理解到畫家意圖洞悉一切現實型態的強烈意願,不但反映了他對視角的獨特見解,畫家的個性亦由此見微知著。

艾珠·克裡斯汀的作品以她個人赤裸的情感和心境抒發作為基礎,並以之為原動力及創作靈感。她緊密繁複的筆觸和線條交織韻律,模擬流動的思緒,邀請觀者探索構圖,透過觀察一個個符號或標誌,尋找出克裡斯汀隱藏在作品裡的特別含意。[1] 克裡斯汀的作品猶如一個謎,而作為觀賞者的我們亦不自覺墮入畫家設下的誘惑,被好奇心驅使著走上藝術探尋之旅。

《圈圈層疊》乃是艾珠·克裡斯汀《圈層疊》系列的後續作品,構圖有無數個型態不一的圓形圖案互相交疊而成。從她的色調選擇,我們可以感受到克裡斯汀執筆時的自信滿滿,高漲的情緒展露無遺,處處嫣紅都是澎湃,若隱若現的柔絲細線卻暴露出激情中的脆弱柔情。油畫角落莫測的漆黑是克裡斯汀既定構圖用色,滲出畫布的縫隙,優雅地為留白的空間添上了數朵墨暈。不但始整個畫面更戲劇化,烘托出那華麗震撼的鮮艷顏色,更突出了在顏色中打著圈圈躍動的線條。遠觀整幅作品,深淺不一的紅色畫面有如艷花綻放的片片花瓣,恣意地散發著活力洋溢。

克裡斯汀將更深層成熟的意義加諸於此作,並主張道:「層疊法猶如一個保存容器,保存的東西足以斷言未知的未來。儘管作品整體看似大巧不工,但圈圈的形狀是有按照一定規律。對我而言,人生的軌跡最重要的是不斷成長變化,從而變為獨一無二。」[2]

艾珠·克裡斯汀的畫作充滿個人風格,它們抽象表達出一種親密的語言和形而上的藝術形式。《圈圈層疊》帶給我們充滿力量的性靈之旅。克裡斯汀把畫布化作日記,間接紀錄她對世界周遭的觀察。「我的行動、創作以及我的作品不斷地塑造我的身份認同。」[3]
