A rare sea-atlas for European coastal navigation including northern and eastern routes (the Dutch coast, through Scandinavia to the White Sea and Archangel), and western routes (from the Netherlands to the Barbary Coast via the Atlantic coast).
The publication history of Goos's Sea-Mirrour, or Zeespiegel is complex. Goos acquired the plates from Theunis Jacobsz or his sons, and adapted them for his own use, most notably erasing Jacobsz's address. He also largely borrowed the text from the earlier works. Versions were issued in Dutch, French, and, as here, English. Koeman lists seven English editions, the earliest in 1658.
