拍品資料及來源
A very rare collection of illustrated Iranian military intelligence handbooks on Iran and the Persian Gulf, which describe "besides a thorough physical topography, an exhaustive and admirable fund of information on the economic, social and political peculiarities of Iran's various provinces." (M. Reza Ghods. The Rise and Fall of General Razmara, (Middle Eastern Studies Vol. 29, No.1 (Jan., 1993), pp. 22-35). Razmara (1901-1951) was born in Tehran and studied at the military academy of Saint-Cyr in France and after a successful military career, including head of Military Intelligence and three-times joint Chief-of Staff, he eventually became Prime Minister in 1950. According to Reza Ghods, Razmara wrote a total of 18 such handbooks during the 1940s; the titles here comprise: East Azerbaijan; West Azerbaijan; Khuzestan; Pushti Kuh; Makran; Fars; Dasht-e Kavir; Gilan and Mazandaran; Luristan; Khorasan; Kermanshah; Maps of the border regions of Iran; Kerman and Bandar Abbas; and Iranian Islands in the Persian Gulf.
