拍品資料及來源

Famous cartographic curiosity from a German text edition of Heinrich Bunting's Itinerarium Sacra Scripturae, with Asia portrayed as Pegasus, the mythical winged horse, with Asia Minor forming the head, Arabia the front legs, India and South-East Asia the rear legs, and Tartary the wings.

The map was first issued as a woodcut, but this later version is engraved, inserting a coat of arms, ships, a merman and mermaid and other fabulous sea creatures.
