拍品資料及來源

Few people know that Captain Scott took his own photographs on the Terra Nova expedition, and fewer still have seen them. Their sudden recent reappearance and publication has given the world, for the first time, a fascinating insight into Scott's momentous achievements on earth's last unexplored continent. For this limited edition18 photographs were carefully selected for their beauty and poignancy and are illustrative of Scott's entire expedition: five were taken on Ross Island (the expedition's base), two on the Spring journey to the Ferrar Glacier and eleven on that fateful march to the Pole.
The photographs comprise: 1. Herbert Ponting photographing Mount Erebus 2. View of the Hut on Cape Evans 3. Portrait of Captain "Titus" Oates 4. Portrait of "Birdie" Bowers 5. Mount Erebus from the sea ice 6. Camp under Cathedral Rocks, Ferrar Glacier 7. George Simpson on Ferrar Galcier 8. Camp 15 on the march across the Great Ice Barrier 9. Ponies on the march across the Barrier 10. The vanguard of the march 11. The march disappearing towards the horizon 12. (Panorama) Looking up the Gateway to the Beardmore Glacier from Shambles Camp 13. Striking camp on the Glacier 14. (Panorama) Dr. Edward Wilson sketching mountains skirting the Glacier 15. Foundering in soft snow 16. Hauling the sledge out of deep snow 17. Manhauling towards the Pole 18. Camp under the Wild Mountains.
