Condition

These photographs are in generally excellent condition. In raking light, very occasional retouching is visible on some of the prints. Two of the plates have been numbered '4,' although one of the plates is actually number 2. The plates are as follows: 1. Carmel - 1929 2. Camel Highlands - 1938 3. Carmel - 1933 4. Carmel Highlands - 1938 5. Carmel Highlands - 1940 : A tiny accretion is visible on the sitter's neck. 6. Los Angeles - 1935 7. Carmel Highlands - 1939 8. Carmel Highlands - 1940 9. Carmel - 1932 10. Carmel Highlands - 1942 - Upon close examination, the following are visible: 2 tiny pin-point-sized impressions that do not appear to break the emulsion in the lower left quadrant; 2 tiny impressions, possibly breaking the emulsion, near the left print edge; and a 1/4-inch diagonal scratch that does not break the emulsion in the upper left quadrant. The portfolio is in generally very good condition. There is some foxing visible on the portfolio cover and on the inner flaps. On the dedication, there are scattered tiny green deposits of indeterminate nature in the upper right corner.
