Menschen was created by Felix Stiemer and others as a voice for literature and art in the last phase of Expressionism in Germany, becoming a political journal in the wake of the murders of Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht in January 1919. The artists represented here include Conrad Felixmüller, Arnold Schmidt-Niechciol, Georg Tappert, Edmund Fabry, César Klein and Walter Grimm.
