  • 18 karat gold, platinum, diamond, hardstone, earclips, ring
The ring set at the sides with round diamonds weighing approximately 6.40 carats, with interchangeable cabochon centers including 2 cat's-eye chrysoberyls, a turquoise and an onyx, all measuring approximately 18.0 mm., size 5½, signed Webb; the earclips of similar design set with round diamonds weighing approximately 6.40 carats, the centers set with cabochon onyxes measuring approximately 19.2 mm., signed Webb, all interchangeable centers work for both ring and earclips.  With signed box.

Condition

Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from David Webb. In good overall condition with gentle wear to the mountings. Evidence of sizing to the ring; fitted with a flexible sizing band. As noted in the catalogue, the interchangeable centers are designed to be worn in both the ring and the earclips. To remove the centers, lift the lever away from the mounting and simply press on the base of the stone, taking care not to let the stone drop on a hard surface. To insert the centers, reverse the process. The slightly greenish golden brown cat's-eye chrysoberyls are highly translucent with minor eye-visible inclusions and faint to moderate chatoyancy. The tops of the cabochons maintain a high polish, the undersides are minimally polished and bear fractures as typical of this material. Two of the onyxes maintain a high polish. The third onyx, the one presumably used for the ring, bears nicks and scratching and would benefit from a polish. With glue residue to the underside. The slightly greenish medium-light blue turquoise presents minor discoloration and soiling with minimal color mottling; the underside with minor matrix. The diamonds are approximately F-G color, VVS-VS clarity.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion. Illustrations in the catalogue may not be actual size. Prospective purchasers are reminded that, unless the catalogue description specifically states that a stone is natural, we have assumed that some form of treatment may have been used and that such treatment may not be permanent. Our presale estimates reflect this assumption.
NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING CONDITION OF A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD "AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF SALE PRINTED IN THE CATALOGUE.
