- 18 karat gold, sapphire, diamond, ring
The cushion-shaped sapphire weighing 10.59 carats, framed by round diamonds weighing approximately 2.10 carats, size 4¼.
Condition
In good condition with light nicking to the shank. Accompanied by Gübelin report no. 11055200 stating that the sapphire is of Burmese origin, no indications of heating, this colour variety of sapphire may also be called 'royal blue' in the trade; SSEF report no. 59082 stating that the sapphire is of Burmese origin, no indications of heating; and GRS report no. GRS2011-033639 stating that the sapphire is of Burmese origin, no indication of thermal treatment, GRS type 'royal blue'. The medium-deep "royal" blue sapphire is richly saturated and eye-clean. Under intense light and close inspection, a reflective feather underneath one quadrant of bezel facets is slightly apparent. Minute to minor abrading apparent to the facet junctions and girdle, but retaining a high polish overall. The 4 round diamonds are approximately G-H color, VS clarity. The mounting circa 1900 in inspiration but of modern manufacture. The sapphire is more richly saturated and of a more 'royal blue' color than shown in the printed catalogue.
