Two Natural Pearl and Diamond Necklaces, Circa 1920

The first graduated single-strand composed of 78 natural pearls measuring approximately 8.36 to 3.72 mm., the clasp set with a marquise-shaped diamond weighing approximately .95 carat, length 17¾ inches, partial signature for Tiffany & Co.; the second graduated single-strand composed of 72 natural pearls measuring approximately 8.05 to 3.76 mm., and 1 bead cultured pearl measuring approximately 7.1 mm., the clasp set with a marquise-shaped diamond weighing approximately .70 carat, length 17 inches, signed Cartier.

Accompanied by GIA report no. 2145256761 stating that the first strand is 78 natural pearls, saltwater; and GIA report no. 2145256745 stating that the second strand is 72 natural pearls, saltwater, 1 cultured pearl. Both strands in good condition with wear to the clasps commensurate with age. Restringing is recommended. As indicated by the catalogue illustration, the two necklaces "nest" nicely together. The pearls on both necklaces are a well-matched creamy white with attractive rose, green and purple overtones. Predominantly round with some near-round examples. Generally very nice skins with occasional minor wrinkling and pitting. Good to very good luster. The diamonds are approximately G-H color, VS clarity. The "R" on the Cartier signature has been worn off and there is faint numbering in the clasp. The Tiffany signature is significantly worn but identifiable.
