18 Karat Gold, Fire Opal, Sapphire and Diamond Ring, Paul Flato, Mid 1980s

The oval cabochon fire opal measuring approximately 34.2 by 21.4 mm., partially framed by a foliate motif set with single-cut diamonds and marquise-shaped sapphires, size 7¼, signed Flato.

Set with a reddish-orange fire opal with patches of orange, blue, red and yellow play-of-color; in very good condition with very gentle nicks only visible under magnification. The true color is closer to the enhancement shot in the printed catalogue. The sapphires are medium blue with moderate inclusions visible under magnification and the diamonds are all approximately F to G color, VS to SI clarity. The gold mounting with some scratching and light tarnish due to wear; in good condition overall.
