Condition
The canvas is unlined. There is one small loss in the lower left corner of the far right window but otherwise the picture surface is bright and has fresh impasto. Under UV many of the pigments fluoresce but there are no apparent signs of inpainting.

David Burliuk's still-life compositions make up a significant part of his diverse oeuvre, and the present lot is a particularly exquisite example of his talent in the genre. Executed in 1960, Two Windows to the World is a tribute to the anniversary of the artist's arrival in New York thirty-eight years earlier, as noted in the inscription at left.
