Marked on body and cover, very marginal pushing in of feet into base of body, Good marks, very clear engraving, good colour, good condition, light wear only, lovely beaker.

The inscription reads: Herr Johann Christoph Hetzel 42 Jähriger/Ambts Vogt zu Vellberg und Frau Margaretha Müllern so den juni Ao 1664 zu Neunstein/ waren copulirt haben den 50 Jährigen ehebundt/Ao 1714 zu Vellberg in ihren 75 und 68 Jährigen/alter erfreulich renovirt.
Vellberg and Neunstein are neighbouring towns in different districts of Baden-Württemberg. Contemporaneously with the beaker, Vellberg was in the district of Schwäbisch Hall, an important coin minting town and Neunstein was in the ancestral lands of the princely family of Hohenlohe.Johann Hetzel was involved with both towns in an official capacity. He is recorded as Ambts Vogt (Reeve) for Vellberg on the beaker and kammerregistrator for Neuenstein in the Hohenlohe-Weikesham papers (16.jh. bis 1756) kept at the Baden-Württemberg Landesarchiv.
