Condition

Very nice marble with one grey vein to the marble around his proper right shoulder. A few minor chips to the edges of the black marble plinth and one loss to the grey marble piedestal. Very attractive little marble bust in good condition overall.

Jean-Louis Couasnon, élève de Jean-Baptiste d'Huez, travaille pour les Menus-Plaisirs en 1777. Il expose au Salon de la Correspondance en 1779 et 1785, et aux Salons du Louvre de 1795 à 1802.
Protestante d'origine française, la famille de Visme avait fui la France lors des persécutions pour s'installer en Angleterre. Gérard de Visme (1725-1797) est membre de la British Factory de Lisbonne et fait fortune dans le commerce de diamants et bois précieux provenant du Brésil.
