Artist's inscriptions:
(1) Old leaves holding fragrant rain; crooked branches eroded by moss. In the deep mountains there is no famous mason. Who recognizes this as a fine village?
(2) White rocks bear ashen lichen. Tall branches receive early spring. Empty mountains are abundant in rain and dew. But someone else is still suffering winter.
(3) The old tree and the moss are in matching green. The sparse bamboo grove enjoys autumn on its own. Under the wintry moon of the year's end, cold shadows mark gnarled branches.
(4) The setting sun hangs at the corner of the house. A cool breeze blows along the jade staircase. I do not mind the sounds, and I am enamored with the wavering shadows.
(5) Where the Daoist is seated in meditation, the ground's sloping and flattening rest. The sparse trees do not obscure the mountains. The setting sun disturbs the chilling blue sky.
(6) The spare trees wish for the setting sun. The distant mountains become clear after the rain. The autumn scenery, beautiful beyond measure, is all taken in at the waterside pavilion.
(7) This grove of orchids grew in a secluded valley. I moved one and planted it by my window. When spring arrives, a single flower blooms, and a pure fragrance fills my empty room.
(8) Against the sun, gold-rimmed shadows gently sway. Wind echoes like softly sounded jades. The recluse unrolls the window shade: a field of green grass whistling in the wind.
