  • gilt-bronze cloisonne enamel
the shallow sides rising from three gilt-bronze ruyi feet to a broad everted rim, brightly decorated to the central medallion with a dragon and phoenix in flight amongst clouds contesting a flaming pearl, all surrounded by meandering lotus and floral scrolls repeated on the exterior and the base

Condition

This large dish is in generally good condition, but does have various areas of minor repair to the turquoise ground enamel to the interior, especially aroundthe dragon and the phoenix. There is also areas of repair to the dark blue enamel ground to the well of the interior, especially just below the rim. There are areas of repair to the turquoise enamel ground to the exterior, especially where the base meets the well. There is generally widescale bubbling to the enamel, which is associated with the firing and is typical for the period. There is a 11.5cm long section of repair to the bronze rim. There may have been some repair to the feet.
