- gilt and lacquered stucco with wood core
seated in dyanasana with the hands folded in dyanamudra, wearing loose fitting robes opening at the front, the serene face with downcast eyes and full cheeks flanked by pendulous ears, the hair in tight curls covering the domed ushnisha above with traces of blue pigment
Condition
With extensive cracking and flaking to the lacquer, with some losses to the lacquer, primarily concentrated to the reverse of the figure. The largest area of loss measuring approximately 50mm by 45mm. Approximately 11 losses to the tips of hair curled around ishnisha. Extensive chips and losses around the base, exposing the textile ground in some parts. Large crack running along the right hand side of the lap, measuring approximately 320mm. Some evidence of over-painting, particularly to an area to reverse. Otherwise in good condition and well modelled.
