the globular body rising to a waisted neck and an everted mouth with an incurved rim, painted with lobed cartouches each enclosing a squirrel clambering amongst grape vines and a cicada perched on bamboo, divided by detached floral sprays, the neck with a stylised band of scrolling lotus, all divided by stylised floral and foliate bands, the countersunk base with a floral spray
Condition
The hookah base is in good condition with the exception of overpainting to the rim probably covering loss to the neck, three firing lines around the shoulder (4, 4 and 1cm., wide) and some light glaze scratches.
