of rectangular pear-shaped form, rising from a high splayed foot, with a bulbous body and straight rectangular neck, set to each side with animal-head loop handles, and surmounted by a flattened rectangular cover, cast around the body and neck with two continuous registers of entwined snakes, divided by a raised horizontal flange, the cover cast around the sides with a scroll border with a single entwined snake to the flattened top, of a rich dark green patina with extensive malachite encrustation

Condition
The vessel and cover with a smooth patina with mottled malachite and small patches of cuprite and azurite encrustation, and with earth adhered to the surface, particularly to the recessed ground, interior and base. The rims of the cover and vessel with very small nicks and chips. General surface wear all over, as expected with a vessel of this nature.
