the compressed globular body rising from three cabriole legs issuing from monster-masks to a tapering rim, set to each side with upright everted loop handles, the body cast around the sides in low relief with two registers of interlocking zoomorphic geometric spiral against a ring-punched ground, the border repeated at the handles, the domed cover cast with three recumbent buffalos in high relief and centred with a loose ring handle, enclosed by three concentric borders of geometric patterns interspersed by a raised flange, with a rich brown patina with malachite and some azurite encrustation

Condition

The head of one recumbent buffalo is lost. The cover with a 0.2 x 0.2cm loss near the rim, the rim has various nicks (max. 0.5 x 0.2cm). Several knocks and other losses to the surface of the vessel, the largest measuring circa 2 x 1cm. Extensive malachite and traces of azurite encrustations to the interior, mottled malachite and cuprite encrustations to the exterior.
