the pear-shaped body with gently tapering sides surmounted by a wide flared mouth, supported on a high splayed foot angled to a straight foot ring, crisply cast with a narrow frieze above a single raised filet of two pairs of confronted birds with hooked beaks and long wing and tail plumes, on a ground of linear scrolls and centered on two raised bovine masks, the bronze an attractive pale green with some azurite and malachite encrustation

Condition
Under optical, ultraviolet (UV) light and x ray examination the vessel has a 3 1/4 in. (9.5 cm) by 2 in. (5.1 cm) restored break on the neck, an approximately 2 1/2 in. (6.35 cm) long filled crack running from the decorated band around the shoulder to above the foot, and several scattered small filled patches on the body. A couple of chaplets and filled patches on the base. The vessel is a lighter green color compared to the catalogue illustration.
