painted in the center with a scene of a lady seated in a pavilion with a checkered floor watching a boy pointing to a carp leaping from a stream below, the reverse with a frieze of four leaping carp above a band of waves and spray, all between double-line borders, six-character mark in underglaze blue

Collection of Dr. Richard and Mrs. Mary Eckhardt, acquired in Japan between 1947-1952 while Dr. Eckhardt was serving as a surgeon in the United States Army and thence by descent.

Condition

There are scattered burst glaze bubbles to the base, and tiny nicks to the foot rim. The interior has a few small burst air bubbles, and some typical minor wear to the exterior, otherwise in good condition.
