Condition
The overall condition is very good. There are some typical foxing, old mildew and light stains to the painting. The old mounting also has some mildew and wear. The actual colour is only slightly paler than the catalogue illustration.

冷枚，字吉臣，山東胶州人，活躍於十七世紀末至十八世紀初，從師兼通繪畫天文之焦秉貞（1689-1726年）。康熙年間始供奉內廷，乾隆七年（1742）乃在宮。枚善繪人物，尤優於宮廷仕女，也擅畫山水樓閣走獸，豐彩多姿。並精通西洋繪藝，曾作畫如《梧桐雙兔圖》，融會中西技法，傳神生動，圖見於《故宮博物院藏文物珍品全集‧清代宮廷繪畫》，香港，1996年，圖版21。
冷枚之宮廷仕女圖例，可見《十宮詞圖》冊，十開絹本，圖刊於《清代宮廷繪畫》，北京，1992年，圖版4。另繪有《養正圖》冊頁十開，描繪歷代賢君故事，出處同上，圖版3。
《石渠寶笈》載錄冷枚《游泳莊環》冊，亦貯重華宮，首幅《姑射神人》主題與本品吻合，卻謂是白描而非設色﹝圖一﹞。細川護貞典藏繪畫，與本品構圖相近，上繪仙女身穿袍服，衣帶飛揚飄舉，駕霧騰雲，錄於《中國繪畫總合圖錄‧第4卷 日本篇II：寺院‧個人》，東京，1984年，頁iv-421，編號JP36-009。
