本作品為劉煒於二OO五年為上海滬申畫廊開幕展覽「劉煒紙上繪畫新作展」而創作的。二OO五年對藝術家來說，是探索的一年。版畫系出身的劉煒，首次結合木版雕刻及繪畫為媒介，創作了一系列以肖像及人物為題材的獨特作品，一套六張的《肖像2005 二號2-7》正是其中的代表作品。劉煒首先進行木板雕刻，印在宣紙上，然後再於版畫上直接以鉛筆及白色顏料繪畫，完成一張獨一無二的作品。其後，藝術家再在原木版上作出修改，並於版畫上進行二次創作。故此，此套作品雖然出自同一木版雕刻，但每一張無論是原來木刻，還是後加的繪畫元素，均獨一無二。藝術家在此作品中，回顧了中國傳統美學，並以此為基礎，再進行跨媒介的實驗，再結合了西方的表達方法，以開拓其他表達的可能性。此作品紀錄了藝術家於二OO五年進行的創作實驗，耗時一整年，隨後亦繼續轉向傳統油畫，令這套作品於藝術家的創作生涯中，更顯獨特珍貴。
