Condition
This sculpture is in excellent condition. There are one or two minute specks of paint on the flat surface underneath the painted head, which are apparently from the underside of the base of the head during installation. There are some superficial and very light smears to the glass and one or two pinhead sized specks of accretions to the inside glass, which can easily be removed. As to be expected with the nature of the media, there are a small number of minute nicks and impressions to some of the outer corner edges of the wooden structure.

“I see the sculptural brush marks as challenging the logic of paint in that they appear to defy gravity by actually staying upright. For me, they exist within a surreal world that is based on getting paint to do something it shouldn’t do, and to sit in a three-dimensional world that it shouldn’t be in. The vitrine allows the sculpture to exist within its own mummified world.”
