In very good general condition; minor wear to enamels; faint firing cracks to three of the four corners of the interior of the box and to each of the feet; minor glaze inclusions along the lower rim of the box and to one of the feet.

本品紋飾獨特，取源南宋著名畫家陳容之《九龍圖卷》。此設計巧妙用於瓷器上應功歸江西景德鎮之御窯廠督陶官唐英（1682-1756）。唐英隸屬漢軍正白旗，十六歲時任官內務府員外郎，值養心殿，其間飽覽宮廷藏畫奇珍，奠定日後製瓷承古開今之扎實基礎。
此作龍紋常見於不同造型，釉彩不一。有一墨彩筆筒作例，帶唐英題詩並款，屬香港中文大學文物館藏，載於林業強，《Tang Ying (1682-1756). The Imperial Factory Superintendent at Jingdezhen》，《Transactions of the Oriental Ceramic Society》，卷63，倫敦，頁69，圖版5。另有一青花「九龍騰雲」紋天球瓶，曾售於香港蘇富比1986年5月20月，編號40，現為鴻禧美術館藏，載於James Spencer，《Selected Chinese Ceramics from Han to Qing Dynasties》，台北，1990年，圖版126。尚有一梅瓶，飾以釉裏紅龍紋游於青花雲間，售於香港蘇富比2003年10月26日，編號136。
繪瓷工匠用筆精鍊，色澤掌握濃淡相宜，以細勁線條勾出輪廓，煙雲溢騰於龍鳳之間。Montague Meyer舊藏有造型相類之作例，尺寸稍大，邊綴相類飾紋，蓋飾雙鳥棲於梅枝間，分售於倫敦佳士得1980年4月14日，編號286，及香港蘇富比1991年4月30日，編號125。
鳴鳳穿梭竹芝間，寓意竹報平安，萬事如意。
