finely carved and hollowed in the form of a reclining phoenix perching on a branch of bamboo, its slender neck sharply turned to the left with its head and beak resting on its back directed towards a circular opening on top, its wings tucked along its body, the plumage detailed with finely incised striations with long tail feathers curling to one side to form a compact composition, the stone of pale celadon tone with a few russet streaks and a smooth polish

There are some small nibbles along the edge of the right wing, but overall the jade phoenix is in very good condition. The actual colour of the jade is very close to the catalogue illustration.
