superbly cast after Western Zhou archaic bronze vessels, the tall baluster body rising from a splayed foot to a high angular shoulder and a waisted neck, flanked by two loop handles issuing from horned mythical animal heads, the body finely decorated with six large cicada lappets enclosing confronted kui dragons forming a taotie mask against a leiwen ground, below a belt of confronting phoenix divided by raised flanges at the shoulder and further phoenix around the neck, all above a band of kui dragons encircling the foot, the metal further inlaid with gold and silver details and richly patinated to a dark brown colour picked out with patches of malachite encrustation

The bronze vase is overall in very good condition with some expected original pitting, minor dents or scratches in areas.
