seated in vajraparyankasana, the right hand held in bhumisparshamudra, the left in dhyanamudra, wearing a pleated robe and sash finely hemmed with incised lotus scrolls on a stippled ground, draped over his shoulders and falling in loose folds over his crossed legs, his gentle face with sensuous lips and finely drawn eyebrows centred with the urna, the eyes downcast in a meditative expression, the ears with long pendulous lobes and the hairs arranged in rows of tight curls covering the domed ushnisha, supported on a rounded triangular double lotus base with beaded edges, the base unsealed
Condition
There are some pitting and wear in areas on the gilt surface, more pronounced on the hand, forearms and shoulders, the base is unsealed but overall the sculpture is in good condition.

此坐佛造像，作降魔印，右手觸地，意味佛陀得道正覺前，戰勝邪魔之役。釋迦牟尼入定修行，發願不成正覺涅槃，誓不離座，期間邪魔幻化俗世種種意象，試圖阻止其得道。釋迦牟尼前世無數業積累的慈悲願念，使其認清此為正覺之開端。因此，釋迦牟尼將右手輕觸地面，令大地為証，此舉擊潰邪魔、魔女與魔軍，釋迦牟尼終能得道。
兩件類同造像，稍大，皆紀年，為正德二年（1507）與八年（1513）製，均售於倫敦蘇富比，分別為1975年2月25日之編號61，及1972年3月14日之編號18。兩件著名御製佛龕，皆供釋迦牟尼降魔印造像，其一藏於倫敦大英博物館，刊錄於 W. Zwalf 編，《Buddhism: Art and Faith》，倫敦，1985年，圖版305，另一件則出自 Speelman 珍藏，於2006年10月7日香港蘇富比售出，編號808。
