naturalistically carved as a trunk section of an aged pine tree, the bark finely detailed with incised lines and knots and further wrapped by an attendant branch bearing clusters of needles, the wood patinated to a warm lustrous dark brown colour, inset on a dark wood stand resting on four bracket feet

Due to the rarity of the wood, brushpots were often constructed with small pieces of wood and lacquered over. The lacquer has worn off and the seams are now visible. There are small pieces off and wax fill to some minor losses. Otherwise the condition is good.
