the deep rounded sides rising from a short tapering foot to a gently flared rim, vividly painted around the exterior in shades of blue against a bright lemon-yellow ground with two five-clawed dragons striding among clouds, their scaly undulating bodies emitting flames, separated by foliate sprays of ruyi surmounted by a lobed panel enclosing one of the auspicious characters fu and shou, all above three rows of pointed petals and between double-line borders at the rim and foot, the interior similarly decorated with a central medallion enclosing a dragon writhing among clouds within double circles repeated inside the rim, the base inscribed with a six-character seal mark in underglaze blue
Condition
There is a hairline crack of approx. 2.5 cm to the mouthrim. Apart from some light surface scratches, the bowl is otherwise in overall quite good condition.
