Condition

Tonally colours of the catalogue photograph are a good match. In reality it is crisper and more defined. Panel is comprised of six joined strips. There is some discolouration /water staining to the ground. There are some small splits/small holes to the ground, especially up the centre of the panel, between the embroidered groups. There is a small vertical split to the lower section of the central grouping on the lower row, which is visible in the photograph as a short dark line. This goes through the panel and lining. There is a honey coloured silk backing, with splits around edges in places, especially the lower left corner. There is the original ikat border of red and white, which has been turned under on all sides. There are some charming details to this overall design, which include the smal coffee pots along the lower edge of the main field and in the centre.
