- Approximately 234 by 146cm.; 7ft. 8in., 4ft. 9in.
depicting a battle of Nadershah (Nader Shah Afshar, Shah of Iran (1736-47), the inscriptions in the border cartouches are Persian couplets describing Nadir's battle in India and his victory, the cartouche in the centre of the top border inscribed with: bi-sa'y-e mir muhammad husayn sadiq-zadeh (Under the supervision of Mir Muhammad Husayn Sadiq-Zadeh), the small shaped cartouche in the centre of the carpet reads: 'Nadir's battle', and the two small side shaped cartouches alluding to Nadir's victory in his campaigns against the Indians
Condition
Generally even 2mm pile in polychrome colours. Pile down to knot-bars and foundation is some of areas of black ground (for example in areas of the border, and within the top half). Plastic strips attached to sides for support. Original flat weave ends and fringe top end (slightly distressed), fringe lacking lower end. Otherwise in generally good condition.
